Plane On Piste

Landing a glider on a mountain isn't exactly risk-free. However, one pilot decided to land his glider at the hugely popular Heavenly Tahoe Resort, California on 6th February.

The pilot landed the glider uphill on the unpopulated beginner slope at the Lake Tahoe resort, much to the displeasure of the resort's staff. "We're pretty outraged", Ross Pecoraro told US news network CBS, "This shouldn't have happened. We think it's irresponsible and selfish on behalf of the pilot and this company to put their plane in a crowded ski resort".

Miraculously, no one was hurt and no damage was done to the resort, despite the plane having a gargantuan sixty-foot wingspan. The Tahoe resort have claimed that the pilot only just missed smashing into the ski lift, tram and lodge with his Hollywood-style landing. Despite the chaos, no criminal charges will be brought against the pilot.

Unsurprisingly, this is the first time a plane of any description has ever landed at Heavenly Tahoe. The sight of a plane landing on a mountain would have had even us dusting off our Oakley goggles for a second look.
